The Role
Herzum is seeking a Senior MS SQL DBA / Application Engineer to join our team and support one of our Clients.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily operational checks.
- Monitor and correct system alerts.
- Conduct performance monitoring of various SQL servers.
- Respond to user inquiries and process tickets.
- Analyze system misbehavior.
- Install Windows updates on a monthly basis.
- Develop application architectures.
- Install, operate, and document Windows-based applications (Windows Server 2019+).
- Manage lifecycle transitions of existing applications to newer versions.
- Create PowerShell scripts for automation and store in Git repository.
- Set up SCOM monitoring.
- Install and operate Microsoft SQL database servers.
- Deploy new SQL servers (SQL 2019+) for application lifecycle management.
- Set up High-Availability (HA) SQL servers (SQL 2019+).
- Migrate databases to newer SQL versions (SQL 2022+).
- Perform performance monitoring.
- Deploy software via SCCM.
- Participate in projects related to the above topics.
Additional information:
- Location: Bern, Switzerland.
- Work mode: 20-40% onsite presence at the client's location, 60-80% remote work.
- Remote work restriction: Remote work is only allowed within Switzerland due to internal regulations.
- Swiss residents: criminal record and credit check required.
- German residents: SCHUFA credit check and police clearance certificate required.
- Security clearance (PSP) required.
Competenze richieste
- At least 4 years of experience as a Senior S3 in on-premise applications based on Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022.
- At least 3 years of experience in setting up on-premise MS SQL infrastructures/environments.
- Proven track record in leading the introduction of on-premise, Windows-based applications.
- 2+ years experience in operating Windows-based applications with MS SQL databases in update management, backups, HA, customization, PowerShell scripting, and case-based monitoring.
- Experience with software like SharePoint 2019, Microsoft SQL Server 2019+, Microsoft IIS, Windows Server 2019+, SCOM 2016+, SCCM 2023+.
- Experience in engineering, integration, operation, and support of Windows-based applications.
- Strong PowerShell scripting expertise.
- Proven database management experience.
- Hands-on experience in migrating Windows-based applications.
- Experience in high-availability applications and troubleshooting.
- Deep knowledge of current Microsoft Windows Server OS.
- Strong background in conceptual project work and project management methodologies.
- Experience in complex network environments.
- Expertise in web services, encryption, and certificate management.
- Fluency in German (C1/C2) and English (mandatory).
Reference Projects:
- A minimum of 3 reference projects in large-scale deployments (project duration of at least 5 months each).
- At least 2 projects with a duration exceeding 1 year.
